As Australia's best-known investigative journalist, Kate writes about some of our shadiest characters - particularly those in her home town of Sydney. As crime reporter for the Sydney Morning Herald, she mixes with names that have become infamous.
Her latest book is Dead Man Walking, in which she turns her attention to the shoddy business deals of Michael McGurk and Ron Medich.
Kate is the winner of seven Walkley Awards, including the Gold Walkley for her expose of the NRL salary cap scandal. Her previous book was He Who Must Be Obeid, on corrupt politician Eddie Obeid.
